Planning on buying a house, a car or anything else? The banking system can be quite a challenge to the newcomer to the US. Understanding how it works and how it will impact your everyday life is an important step of your settling in to your new life in the US. During this session, the speakers will discuss the credit score and credit history. They will also explore how those two factors determine your mortgage application. 

 


ABOUT THE SPEAKER
   
William Levesque, AVP, Business Development Officer-International Banking Group
 

William works in the International department of Bank of the West where he assist French speaking clients, that are relocating to the US, with their banking needs. His client includes international entrepreneurs and families, high net-worth individuals and multi-national businesses. Prior joining Bank of the West William worked at the international consulting firm Amaris where he worked as the business development manager. William is french and american.

 

Karen McDowell, Mortgage Banker at Bank of the West

Karen joined Bank of the West in 2001 as Mortgage Banker and achieved the title of Assistant Vice President in 2003. She currently works as a Private Mortgage Banker supporting the banks Wealth Management headquarters in San Francisco. Karen has over 30 years of experience in retail banking as a Financial Sales Manager, Personal Banker, VP and Branch Manager. She has spent 14 of those years as a Mortgage Banker. Karen also has extensive underwriting experience which helps her identify diverse and creative solutions when advising her clients on mortgages.

Isabelle Grotte, Zephyr Noe Valley Agent at Zephyr Real Estate 
 

Isabelle is a San Francisco Top Selling Agent at Zephyr Real Estate, a boutique firm specializing in residential real estate. Originally from the French Alps, she moved to California in 2004 and embarked on a real estate career shortly after purchasing her own investment property in Bernal Heights. Isabelle is fascinated by San Francisco’s rich architectural heritage and by the complexities of its dynamic real estate market.
