A thorough process to acknowledge French leaders in the Bay Area.

1- Selection

25 Firms are selected by a scientific Advisory Board in conjunction with the editorial department of Leaders League.

Other references such as international professional guides, studies, surveys and rankings are used to enhance this selection.

Jury members also have the opportunity to make recommendations.

Firms must be owned by a French or French-American or involve a French representative in its executive committee.

2- Nomination criteria

A questionnaire is sent to each nominee and acts as an application form.

Winners are selected by the jury members for their performance on the long run.

The criteria are based on a qualitative & quantitative oriented methodology.

a- Qualitative criteria (50% of notation) take into account:

  • Innovation
  • Leadership and Management
  • Quality and diversity of operations for the last 3 years
  • Social Responsibility
  • Involvement in the French Community or France’s influence in the Bay Area and beyond

b- Quantitative criteria (50% of notation) take into account:

  • Activity and revenue growth
  • Staff growth
  • Net income
  • Fundraising

3- Jury & deliberation procedure

With a selection based on professional criteria, over 40 experts join the 4 jury panels to elect the best actors in the Bay Area.

This selection is made to ensure that the French-American Business Awards reflect an objective illustration of the market.

The experts are the ones determining the winners, by voting for the best shortlisted firms in each category.

This is an extremely rigorous and confidential judging process based on their experience and market knowledge as well as on the information provided by nominees in the application forms.

During the deliberation, each jury member chooses his top 3 firms, allocating points (3 points for the first, 2 points for the second, 1 point for the third). The company receiving the best total of points wins. The company with the second best total of points receives the Special Distinction. In case of difference less than 3 points between the first and the second, a second round of voting is made, giving the opportunity for the jury members to award two ex aequo winners.

The Awards Ceremony

During the Gala Dinner, the names of the laureates are revealed, and they are rewarded for their excellence with the Gold Award. Representatives of Companies awarded as Special Distinction also come on stage to receive a prize.
